Quarterly MVP Rankings: 17. Deandre Hopkins +15000

The placement of Deandre Hopkins on this list is a bit of an interesting one, if not flat-out puzzling. For years on end, Hopkins has been near the top of the charts whenever the conversation surrounding the best wide receiver in the game has been discussed. He’s consistently put up thousand yard seasons and the sort of numbers that back up his claims as the best in the world. This year, on the other hand, he hasn’t been as dominant.

Hopkins ranks 25th in the league right now in receiving yards with 486. Believe it or not, but he also has only caught a single passing touchdown all year. So why exactly is Hopkins in the top 20 in MVP odds? Well, it’s mostly because his Arizona Cardinals are 7-1 right now.

In our opinion, it doesn’t matter if the Cardinals fail to lose a single game for the rest of the year, with the pedestrian numbers he’s been putting up, there’s absolutely no way he’ll be taking home the league MVP this season.
