Quarterly MVP Rankings: 5. Tom Brady +750

If it was just a numbers game, Tom Brady would rank number one in the MVP odds. At 3,000 years old, Brady leads the entire NFL in several statistical categories. At the halfway point, Brady has successfully thrown for 25 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions to go along with 2,650 passing yards.

Currently, no other quarterback in the league has been better on paper. But the MVP award can’t be won solely on just great numbers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a pretty good team this year. They’ve won six games out of their first eight and are well on their way to winning 12 or more games. The thing is, the Buccaneers have a few clunkers. They lost by 10 points to the Los Angeles Rams in a game that wasn’t as close as the scoreboard said. They also recently had a bad loss to the New Orleans Saints.

If the Buccaneers can clean up a few things and look more impressive, Brady can jump to the front of the leaderboard in the MVP race.
