Quarterly MVP Rankings: 7. Justin Herbert +1200

The eyes of the NFL world were fixated on Justin Herbert to start the season. The second-year player was terrific as a rookie but most were chalking up his success to the league having little to no footage on him.

Now, coming into his second year, the regression was expected. That, of course, isn’t happening.

Herbert has been as good as advertised this year. At his current pace, he should finish the year with over 4,000 passing yards and close to 40 touchdowns with around 10 picks.

Before the season started, Herbert was the sexy pick. And while his numbers are MVP worthy, in the end, wins matter. At 4-3, the Chargers are having a solid season but they don’t appear to be world-beaters. They were pummeled by the Baltimore Ravens by 28 points and followed that up with a three-point loss to the New England Patriots at home.

Herbert has no chance to win this award if he doesn’t start leading his team to a lot more wins.
