Quarterly MVP Rankings: 8. Lamar Jackson +1200

Alright, the days of saying Lamar Jackson is only a runner should be long gone. Now that doesn’t mean he’s one of the best passers in the league because he’s not. But, he’s much better than he gets credit for.

Through seven games, Jackson has already thrown for 1,943 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He’s also still as dynamic on the ground, rushing for 480 yards and two scores.

Interestingly enough, when Jackson took home the regular-season MVP in 2019, his numbers were eerily similar. Jackson ended the year with 1,206 rushing yards and 3,127 passing yards. Currently, Jackson is on pace to beat both records. So why isn’t he mentioned even more in the MVP discussions? That could be because the Ravens were destroyed by the Cincinnati Bengals the last time they were seen on the field.

To make matters worse, Jackson was pretty awful that day, completing less than 50% of his passes. We’re only at the halfway point of the season, so Jackson still has plenty of time to put some distance between himself and that awful showing.
