NFL: Top 25 boldest predictions for the rest of the season
By Nick Villano
The NFL season is officially past the halfway point, and there are a lot of surprises. Ja’Marr Chase was not the popular pick for the Cincinnati Bengals with Penei Sewell still on the board, but Chase has transformed the Bengals offense into one of the best in the league. Patrick Mahomes isn’t the best quarterback in the league. In fact, he’s leading the league in interceptions. The Chiefs are also in last place in the AFC West, so that’s definitely a surprise.
Who was making those bold predictions prior to the season? Was anyone really expecting the Chiefs, who have played in three straight Super Bowls, to fall out of favor this badly? How about predicting Mike White would win a game for the New York Jets? Or Cooper Rush leading the Dallas Cowboys on national television?
What do we expect to be the surprising headlines of the second half of the NFL season?
This NFL season has been crazy on the field. Now it might get crazy off the field. Deshaun Jackson was cut by the Los Angeles Rams. Odell Beckham Jr. is facing rumors he could get cut, too. Jon Gruden is no longer the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Von Miller’s career with the Denver Broncos is over. This has been a wild year that seemingly never stops going into the headlines. What will happen next? There are going to be a lot of things to sift through once we get past Week 18. It just means an extra week of headlines from a crazy NFL season.
