NFL: Top 25 boldest predictions for the rest of the season: 12. Trevon Diggs records one interception for the rest of the season

Trevon Diggs had a monster first half of the season. He leads the league with seven interceptions. Nobody else in the league has more than four. Diggs is going to be an All-Pro even if he doesn’t play another game this season, let alone if he doesn’t play well. Diggs is dominating on defense.

Well, is he? His analytical grades aren’t good, and they tell a story of inconsistency. The Cowboys have to be seeing the same thing. It’s great that he is making plays and getting turnovers. That’s a big part of the defense and it can change the way the game feels, but if he’s getting torched three or four times a game, it is a net negative to what he’s bringing to the table.

Diggs will likely change the source of his focus on the field. The Cowboys coaching staff will get him to stop players from killing them in the passing game over only looking to become a ball hawk. Also, Diggs can only be so lucky. He’s made some incredible plays to get some of his interceptions, but others seem to be thrown right at him.

Diggs is still young and has some growing to do, and those growing pains will come with less interceptions on the field. He will have one more interception this season, and it will come in a big spot, but besides that he is going to be focusing on being a great cornerback.
