NFL: Top 25 boldest predictions for the rest of the season: 23. Dawson Knox will lead all tight ends in fantasy points.

It’s always hard to quantify who the best tight end in the league is, but fantasy points is one way to take a look at the options. It doesn’t take into effect the blocking aspect of things, but at least it takes a full scope of the player’s impact on offense. Dawson Knox is currently recovering from a broken hand, but before his injury, he was the most dominant player at his position.

Travis Kelce was a first-round pick in fantasy drafts this season, so he should be expected to be the top guy. That’s what he’s been so far, but the sputtering Chiefs offense has seriously impacted Kelce’s production. He had 27 yards and a fumble last week.

Prior to Week 9’s action, Dawson Knox has 60 points in standard fantasy leagues while Kelce is leading the league with 86. It won’t be terribly hard for Knox to make up that kind of production if he returns relatively soon, which it sounds like he will. The PPR leagues is where this gets really bold. He is 45 points behind Kelce in those leagues. He’s going to overtake him there, too.

Knox was scoring at a ridiculous clip before his injury. He had touchdowns in four straight game, and he just had his first 100-yard game. Josh Allen just didn’t have the same chemistry with Tommy Sweeney in Knox’s absence, so he’ll be excited to have his second-best target back soon. He will use that to swing fantasy matchups and make Knox the top tight end in the league.
