NFL: Top 25 boldest predictions for the rest of the season: 20. Washington Football Team will be first ever to allow 5,000 passing yards against

The Washington Football Team has been absolutely awful against the pass. There are actually multiple teams who can’t stop the pass for the life of them. Washington, the Ravens, and the Dolphins have allowed more than 285 yards passing per game as of Week 9.

No team has ever allowed 5,000 passing yards in a season. Surprisingly, the 2011 Green Bay Packers allowed more passing yards than any team in history. Teams put up 4,988 yards against them. It was a clinic that season every time Aaron Rodgers took the field against teams able to throw all over his team. That was a team coming off a Super Bowl win, too.

Teams would have to average 294 yards allowed per game to allow 5,000 yards in a season. Right now, only the Ravens are on that pace, but that will change soon enough. The Washington Football Team has five straight NFC East games to finish the season, and those teams are all looking to send a message. The Giants and Eagles coaches will want to take advantage of weakness from their division rival while trying to save their own jobs. The Cowboys are just a great passing team that’s going to dominate the team in D.C.

Also, Ryan Fitzpatrick would return in December, which could make some of these final games a shootout. This might be the last hoorah of Fitzpatrick, and that could lead to huge passing numbers on both sides of the ball.
