2021 NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Cardinals, Titans overcome the odds
By Randy Gurzi
Maybe it was too early to write off the Tennessee Titans. Yes, Derrick Henry is their best player, and losing him to a foot injury was devastating. But to act as though he was the only reason they could win was probably not the best way to approach things.
That was proven on Sunday Night Football as Ryan Tannehill and the Titans took it to the Los Angeles Rams. Of course, it wasn’t just Tannehill who played well as the Tennessee defense made life miserable on L.A. quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Jefferey Simmons was especially disruptive with three sacks. He was also the one who hit Stafford and caused him to throw an ugly pass right to David Long, Jr. The Titans cashed in with a two-yard touchdown from Tannehill to Geoff Swaim and then Kevin Byard took the very next Stafford pass to the house on a 24-yard pick-six.
Tennessee even got Adrian Peterson in on the action as the newly signed running back scored his 126th career touchdown in his first game with the Titans.
Now at 7-2, this is a team to really watch. They might have had a shocking loss to the Jets but they have wins over Seattle (with Russell Wilson), Buffalo, Kansas City, and now the Rams. That’s an impressive resume and it’s time to take them seriously.
