2021 NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Cardinals, Titans overcome the odds
By Randy Gurzi
The injuries for Tua Tagovailoa continue to mount up. Now a hand injury forced him to sit out as the Miami Dolphins started Jacoby Brissett once again. The good news? They were going against the Houston Texans who are one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Even with Tyrod Taylor back under center, the Houston offense was a mess. Taylor had three picks as was responsible for 23 of their 73 rushing yards — meaning the running backs were of little help with just 53 yards on the ground.
Miami’s defense simply made life hard on them as Jevon Holland picked off a pass in the end zone and Jerome Baker and Justin Coleman also had interceptions on the day. Their offense didn’t do a lot with Brissett also having a couple of picks and the running game managing only 47 yards on 25 carries.
Still, Gaskin had an early touchdown from six yards out and Brissett hit Mack Hollins for a five-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to put it out of reach. Having said all of this, Miami is still just 2-7 which is a far cry from the 10-6 record they put up one season ago.
Given their decline and the continued injury concerns for Tua, they’re going to have a lot to figure out in the offseason.
