3. Perfect Fit: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty  – New Orleans Saints

For years, NFL Draft media mocked a quarterback to the Saints. Maybe 2022 is the year Sean Payton will look for his future quarterback. If he does, Liberty quarterback Malik Wills is the ideal fit.

Wills has all the tools needed for Sean Payton’s offense. He’s an all-in-one quarterback. He has the arm of Jameis Winston and the athleticism of Taysom Hill. Electric, is the first word that comes to mind when watching the 6-1 215-pound passer.

Like Winston, Will can make all the throws. He has enough juice to fit throws into tight windows and the arm talent to make off-platform throws. An added trait is his ability to push the ball downfield with velocity and zip.

Like Taysom Hill, Willis displays explosive, short-area quickness and a powerful running style. He’s capable of making guys miss and run effective RPOs. When he drops back to pass, his quick-twitch and feel for pressure allows him to make improvised plays inside and outside the pocket. He’s accurate on the move, and he’s a threat to escape out the back door.

Willis stock will rise as we get closer to the draft, so the Saints may need to move up to get him. Pairing him with a receiving back like Alvin Kamara and a healthy Michael Thomas gives the Saints a promising trio.
