Third round pick: Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State

If you’ve watched this season, you’ll see the Miami Dolphins don’t have a running game. No matter how hard they try, they can’t get anything going. As a team, the Fins average 3.5 yards per carry.

How could they expect any young quarterback to have success without a functional running game? Addressing the line is a must, so is grabbing a back who can create on his own. Myles Gaskin is a solid back in a two-back system. He’s a reliable 3rd down option the Fins should pair with another back.

Breece Hall got off to a slow start to the 2021 College Football season, which is why he’s gone under the radar. For this mock, he’s fallen to the Fins in the bottom of the third round. At 6-1 220-pounds, Hall runs with power, tenacity, and great contact balance. With great vision, decent quickness, fluidity, he can create when nothing’s there. He presses the line, understands how to get skinny, and exploits creases.

Once he’s in the open field, he has enough elusiveness to make guys miss. And he has decent enough speed to break big runs. In college, Tua played with a back who has a similar running style in Nayjee Harris. Hall isn’t the same prospect, but he’s a tone-setting power-back who’ll help solidify the Dolphins backfield.
