2022 NFL Mock Draft: Miami Dolphins build around Tua Tagovailoa

Fourth-round pick: Micah McFadden, LB, Indiana Hoosiers

Jerome Baker needs a running mate on the inside. The Fins could address the linebacker position in free agency. However, there are plenty of diamonds in the 2022 NFL Draft that could help their defense. Brian Flores loves to run disguised blitzes.

The Dolphins head coach isn’t afraid to mix and match with multiple fronts. He’ll bring pressure from anywhere on the field. The Fins struggled to get to the quarterback way too often this season. A player like Micah McFadden is the perfect fit for the Dolphins’ defense.

McFadden is a stoutly built 6-2 232-pound backer who plays both WILL and the MIKE. He’s a downhill run defender who isn’t afraid for contact. His motor and high football IQ make him the perfect commander for a defense. On third downs, he’s an excellent blitzer. He’s also capable of exploiting gaps or powering through guards. He’s a plug-and-play backer who’ll fit perfectly next to Jerome Baker.

Fourth-round pick: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

There’s no telling what’s going to happen with the wide receiver room in Miami. Devante Parker is likely out, Preston Williams hasn’t impressed, and neither has Albert Wilson. The Fins should double down on wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft. Alec Pierce is the ideal boundary receiver to replace what Parker and Williams provided in terms o of size.

Like Parker, Pierce the 6-3 213-pound wideout does his best work when the ball is in the air. He has good body control and athleticism. He’s an ideal vertical wideout who’ll give Tua a rangy red zone target. Pairing him with Burks gives the Fins a better chance at hitting on a wideout.
