New York Jets mock draft, 3rd pick: David Bell, WR, Purdue

2nd round, 38th overall

So you just drafted a young quarterback to lead your franchise…

What does the handbook say to do next?

The Jets used a second-round pick in 2020 on Denzel Mims, who has been almost a total flop up to this point, but they also used a second-round pick in 2021 on Elijah Moore, who has been spectacular in recent weeks.

The wide receiver room in New York, even with Corey Davis on board, is not yet complete.

David Bell has been phenomenal for Purdue this season and basically ruined the Iowa Hawkeyes’ season all by himself.

He’s an explosive playmaker at 6-foot-2 who is averaging just about 16 yards per reception this season for the Boilermakers and has already eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2021.

Here, the Jets get themselves another playmaker on the outside to take some pressure off of Elijah Moore but also to get Zach Wilson one more option that can be an offense creator and catalyst.
