5. New York Jets: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU

The New York Jets are armed with two selections in the 2022 NFL Draft thanks to their trade with the Seattle Seahawks involving Jamal Adams. This is their second season in a row with two picks and they used them in 2021 to help fix their offense.

While they’re still working on developing those players (Zach Wilson and Alijah Vera-Tucker), the Jets turn their attention to defense in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Their first selection is Derek Stingly from LSU.

Adding Stingley gives them the top cornerback in this class and will help shore up a secondary that needs some help.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama

No one is quite sure how the Jacksonville Jaguars held the Buffalo Bills to six points in Week 9, but they did. The 9-6 victory was shocking and it could end up hurting the Jags in their quest for a top pick — you know they only kept Urban Meyer around to accomplish such a task, right?

The good news is, they still end up landing a player they would likely target in the top-3 as Evan Neal is still on the board. If this happens on draft night, expect whoever is running the team by next spring to sprint to the podium with Neal’s name written on a card.

Listed at 6-foot-7 and 345-pounds, Neal is a mammoth player who has more athleticism than his size would suggest. His addition will be great for Trevor Lawrence as he continues to develop as a quarterback.
