. Previous: 23rd. Carolina Panthers. 19. team. 87.

Cam Newton is back and he had a fun return to the field for the Carolina Panthers. In fact, his very first two touches led to touchdowns as he ran in a two-yard touchdown to put the first seven points on the board in the first quarter. Later in that opening period, Newton again came in on a goal-line play and this time, he hit Robby Anderson from two yards out for a touchdown.

From there, the Panthers just kept putting up points. Zane Gonzalez hit three field goals in a row to put his former team behind 23-0 before the Cardinals finally put some points on the board. Chuba Hubbard ran in another touchdown and Gonzalez hit one more field goal in the second half as the Panthers made it look easy with a 34-10 win over the Cardinals.

Carolina, who started out 3-0, now has two wins in the past three weeks which has improved their record to 5-5 on the season. They still have a chance to make a run and perhaps bringing back Newton was the spark they needed.

He finished this one with just 14 yards on the ground and eight passing as P.J. Walker did the heavy lifting, but the longer he’s there, the better the chances are he takes over and that could be a huge plus for them down the stretch.
