Taking a look at the five oldest players in the NFL who are currently active on rosters. Which players around the league are defying Father Time?
Age is just a number, right? In the NFL, being old is relative.
There was only one player in the league heading into the 2021 season over the age of 40, and it’s well-known that football is a difficult sport to play for any sort of long period of time.
Some players have discovered the way to keep their bodies in playing shape late into their 30s, defying the odds and some in borderline miraculous ways. Veteran running back Adrian Peterson is not on the list of the five oldest players currently active in the NFL, but he deserves recognition at the age of 36, still looking like a Greek god out there and running hard for the Titans.
Who are currently the active oldest NFL players in the league?
Who are the oldest players currently in the NFL? Let’s take a look through, from youngest to oldest.
Oldest NFL players No. 5: Dustin Colquitt, Atlanta Falcons
Born: May 6, 1982 (age 39)
Dustin Colquitt is, surprisingly, the only specialist on this list of the oldest active NFL players. It’s not atypical in a given year that the oldest players in the NFL are kickers, punters, and long snappers because those players never really take hits and have longevity as a result.
Dustin Colquitt is the oldest active specialist in the league, signed by the Atlanta Falcons on October 5 as a free agent.
Colquitt punted for the Kansas City Chiefs for the majority of his NFL career, winning a Super Bowl in the 2019 season.
He is one of the rare specialists in the NFL with the distinction of “former top-100 NFL Draft pick” and he made a couple of Pro Bowls along the way.
