Dallas Cowboys bold prediction No. 2: Defense picks off Mahomes twice

In the surprising loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 9, the Cowboys’ defense struggled mightily with creating turnovers. What had been their bread and butter all season was non-existent as Teddy Bridgewater and the Denver offense had their way all game long.

The script was completely flipped in Week 10 when the Dallas defense recorded three turnovers. Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan finished a putrid 9-of-21 passing for 117 yards with a couple of interceptions. Josh Rosen played in garbage time and he was much worse, finishing 1-of-6 with 14 yards and an interception.

Trevon Diggs recorded his eighth of the season, Anthony Brown recorded his third (on a crazy catch nonetheless), and Jourdan Lewis picked up his second. There will be plenty who say that Dallas won’t be able to have similar success against Mahomes, but the truth is, Matt Ryan has actually been much less reckless with the ball this season than the Chiefs signal-caller, as he has eight picks compared to Mahomes’ 10.

Look for that to lead to Mahomes testing this opportunistic defense deep a couple of times, and while he won’t have 12 incompletions and nine completions the way Ryan did, this prediction is that he does throw two turnovers. The Cowboys’ defense has been solid all season but a good showing against a high-powered offense will be the biggest feather in their cap to date.
