Denver Broncos day three mock draft picks

Fourth Round pick

After taking Javonte Williams in 2021, do the Denver Broncos really need another running back? We’ll see what happens with Melvin Gordon beyond this season. Robinson, like Williams, has been running extremely tough between the tackles and would be a tremendous replacement if Gordon leaves in 2022 as Javonte Williams’ number two.

Fifth Round pick (from Lions)

Micah McFadden has great range at the linebacker position and, at worst, looks like he’s going to be able to play in rotation at the next level and contribute as a core special teams player.

The Broncos have three starting linebackers — Josey Jewell, Alexander Johnson, and Kenny Young — on expiring contracts.

In three seasons as a starter, McFadden has a whopping 34.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and 14 sacks. He’d reunite with his old teammate Jamar Johnson in Denver.

Fifth-round pick (own)

Here’s a sleeper to keep an eye on in the 2022 NFL Draft. Michael Griffin II of South Dakota State started his collegiate career in George Paton’s backyard at Southwest Minnesota State before transferring to SDSU, where he became a star in the FCS playoffs last year.

With outstanding athletic metrics including a 42.5-inch vertical jump and sub-4.5 in the 40-yard dash, Griffin is the type of RAS athlete Paton seemingly covets who would instantly contribute on special teams.

Sixth-round pick (from Eagles)

Pick Analysis. WR/RS. Appalachian State. player. 2391. Scouting Report. Jalen Virgil. 9

Speaking of special teams, the Denver Broncos should be actively seeking ways to upgrade in the return game.

Diontae Spencer has been solid for them but there are plenty of guys who can catch kicks and punts. Jalen Virgil is a game-changer in the return game who is explosive and a workout warrior.

He has run track at Appalachian State, and it shows when he’s running by players as a kickoff returner.

Seventh-round pick (from Lions)

Charlie Jones’ stock has steadily risen throughout this season for the Hawkeyes. In addition to making some really tough catches as a receiver, Jones has been one of the best return men in the country.

The former Buffalo transfer has gone from a likely camp body to potentially one of the more coveted day three players at the position for his special teams versatility.

Seventh-round pick

Similar to the Marquiss Spencer dart throw in 2021, the Broncos take a shot here on Kobie Whiteside, a guy who has spent a lot of time at Missouri and has an outstanding athletic profile with high upside.

What else can you ask for at the bottom of round seven?

Whiteside is very strong and very explosive for a 300-pounder.
