NFL: Ranking the worst QB Chemistry in the league: 24. Justin Herbert to Jared Cook – Los Angeles Chargers
Jared Cook is someone who is sticking around the league despite having some pretty underwhelming stats for a few years now. He signed for decent money with the New Orleans Saints after a few big seasons with the then-Oakland Raiders. Cook has been around the league since 2009, and he’s had various levels of success with each franchise. His time with the Los Angeles Chargers has been interesting.
Cook has 27 catches for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Those aren’t bad numbers. However, it seems like there are times when Justin Herbert would love to throw to anyone else on the field despite the fact Cook is open. Is there a trust issue there? It seems like Herbert is going to target Keenan Allen and Mike Williams as much as he can. That’s understandable, but it seems like people are starting to figure out if they can shut down Allen and Williams they can shut down the Chargers offense in general.
Cook should be getting much better matchups than he is. Despite defenses going all out to stop the wide receivers, Cook isn’t getting the ball as often as one would think. He signed with the Chargers to play with Justin Herbert, but they haven’t been able to develop anything palpable.
