NFL: Ranking the worst QB-WR Chemistry in the league: 16. Tyrod Taylor to Danny Amendola – Houston Texans

The Houston Texans went on a spending spree this offseason for mediocre veteran talent. Usually, it’s not a terrible look. Getting some veterans in on middle-of-the-pack contracts to complement the players already on the team is not a bad thing. They can provide a little something extra that younger players can’t. The issue is the Texans have nothing to build around. It’s basically like trying to build a housing community on swampland.

Danny Amendola was one of those players they signed. He’s been a swiss-army knife for whatever team signs him. He was pretty good for the Detroit Lions last season, so it seemed like a pretty decent risk by the Texans. Most people thought it was strange that he chose the Texans. However, he was clearly the number two behind Brandin Cooks.

Right now, there are seven players on the Texans with more receiving yards than Danny Amendola. He is basically their fifth wide receiver right now, and with Nico Collins stepping up, Amendola’s role will dwindle.

Amendola has been hurt at times this season, so that will likely impact his lack of a role in the offense. If he keeps missing practice and games he can’t build chemistry with Tyrod Taylor or Davis Mills.
