NFL: Ranking the worst QB Chemistry in the league: 32. Taylor Heinicke to Terry McLaurin – Washington Football Team

The situation with Terry McLaurin in Washington this season is strange. The star wide receiver hasn’t been able to take advantage of his impact like he has in seasons past. Most people thought he was going to have a huge season with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, but Fitzpatrick suffered a major injury very early in the season. He was going to play with Taylor Heinicke for months, and things just haven’t clicked.

McLaurin has been maddeningly inconsistent this season. Ask any fantasy owner what they think of having McLaurin on the team. He was insane for two weeks. He had 11 catches and over 100 yards against the New York Giants. He also had six receptions for 123 yards against the Atlanta Falcons.

McLaurin has as many games under 50 yards as he has games over 100 yards. He even has two games where he had under 30 yards receiving.

This isn’t because of Heinicke isn’t looking his way. Since Week 1, McLaurin has at least seven targets every week, and four times he’s had more than 10 targets. He just isn’t catching the ball at the same clip as previous seasons. It doesn’t seem like Heinicke getting the ball where McLaurin can make a play.
