NFL: Ranking the worst QB Chemistry in the league: 8. Jimmy Garoppolo to Brandon Aiyuk – San Francisco 49ers

The saga of Brandon Aiyuk in San Francisco is just strange. They used a first-round pick on this guy with the 25th-overall pick. The 49ers acted like they just won the lottery. Team leaders made it clear this was the one guy they wanted in the draft. Then, something changed. He was barely being used in the offense, and when he was it seemed like something seemed off.

This season, Aiyuk started off sitting on the bench a lot, but he’s earned more time in the offense. He finally had a big game against the depleted Arizona Cardinals, but now the 49ers are taking a victory lap like everything is fixed. Aiyuk has 230 yards and two touchdowns this season. He does not have chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo.

Aiyuk still has a shot to turn his season around, but one 89-yard performance is not enough to convince us. Prior to his game against the Cardinals, Aiyuk had four games where he had one catch or less. It’s not what you want from a second-yard first rounder. Aiyuk might be building chemistry with Garoppolo now, but when looking at the full picture, this duo needs a lot of help.
