NFL Thanksgiving Day prediction #2: Micah Parsons cements DROY

In case he hasn’t done so already, I’m predicting Micah Parsons will cement the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year award as of Thursday afternoon/evening.

The NFL Thanksgiving Day slate of games isn’t loaded with rookie star power, but Parsons has arguably been the best rookie of the entire 2021 class so far (up there with Ja’Marr Chase, of course) this season.

The young Dallas Cowboys star is poised to hoist the Turducken and raise a mutton after the performance he turns in against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday.

Already this season, Parsons has 62 total tackles, 18 QB hits, 13 tackles for loss, and eight sacks along with two forced fumbles.

There’s no question about the impact that he has made on this defense along with the emergence of cornerback Trevon Diggs and the guidance of coordinator Dan Quinn.

Quinn has done an outstanding job of involving Parsons as both an off-ball linebacker as well as a pass rusher, something that he was great at when he played at Penn State.

Even after opting out of the 2020 season, Parsons has seemingly picked up where he left off in 2019 with the Penn State program. He’s been a superstar and against the Raiders, maybe we see him get a defensive touchdown to cement that DROY status.
