NFL Thanksgiving Day prediction #5: The return of Touchdown Trev

The New Orleans Saints had to be feeling good as Trevor Siemian helped keep their boat afloat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a month ago as he took over for the injured Jameis Winston.

Unfortunately, they have not been able to capture the fire from the spark that was provided in that game and the Saints have dropped three straight games, struggling badly with injuries on offense in the process at positions other than just quarterback.

Trevor Siemian is probably one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL, but we’ve seen in recent weeks that he’s probably not the one who is going to consistently be the tide raising all other boats.

With that said, Siemian has proven throughout his NFL career that there is, every once in a while, the chance that you’re going to get the “Touchdown Trev” version of him, a player who plays lights out and makes you wonder how he’s not a full-time starting quarterback.

We saw Touchdown Trev coming out a bit against the Philadelphia Eagles as the Saints made a bit of a furious comeback and Siemian provided four total touchdowns, three passing and one rushing.

In his time with the Denver Broncos, Siemian had a couple of explosive four-touchdown outings as a passer, and he’s now on a streak of three games with multiple passing touchdowns as the Saints’ replacement starter.

Weird stuff tends to happen on Thanksgiving, and I think on this delightful NFL Thanksgiving nightcap, we see the return of Touchdown Trev with another four-TD outing in a Saints win.
