Thanks to a dominant performance on Sunday Night Football in New Orleans, the Buffalo Bills appear to be back to their respective selves.

It’s been documented that the New Orleans Saints delight in tasting turkey legs on NFL Thanksgiving Thursday, that is until the Buffalo Bills showed up.

Behind a resurgent performance from quarterback Josh Allen, Buffalo rebounded from their home loss to Indianapolis by traveling down to New Orleans and walked away with a terrific taste of turkey in their mouths and a 31-6 victory to move to 7-4 on the year. New Orleans now falls to 5-6.

Last Sunday, the Bills allowed Colts running back Jonathan Taylor to run wild in Orchard Park to the tune of five touchdowns. This time, they allowed just one passing touchdown when the game was entirely out of reach and led 10-0 at the half.

Allen finished 23/28 for 260 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. Tight end Dawson Knox had three catches for 32 yards, two of which went for touchdowns. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs also scored a touchdown and caught seven passes for 74 yards.

New Orleans quarterback Trevor Siemian, replacing an injured Jamies Winston, went 17/29 for 163 yards and a touchdown along with an interception. Wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey led all Saints receivers with 47 yards on three catches. Tight end Nick Vannett caught the only score of the game for New Orleans.

The Buffalo Bills needed this victory to keep pace in the AFC East with a surprisingly resurgent New England Patriots team.

As of right now, Buffalo currently sits atop the AFC East, and behind them is, well, a familiar face and nemesis in the New England Patriots, who looks like last season’s supposed sabbatical has helped them quite well.

Should that scare Buffalo? No. Is it a reason for the Bills to brush New England aside? Also no. Two reasons. One, it’s Bill Belichick coming in with a rejuvenated team and motivation. And two, it’s an opportunity for Buffalo to show that last year wasn’t merely an anomaly but rather, a sign of what they believe the future of the division will look like.

Mac Jones has been playing at a steady level for the Patriots, despite his status as a rookie quarterback. Additionally, linebacker Matthew Judon, whose comments on mac and cheese triggered a laughable outrage from various outlets, is showing that Belichick does know what he’s doing in the free agency market.

It should provide for an exciting matchup for the division and potentially for playoff seeding as both New England and Buffalo are in the thick of things with each other. As for New Orleans, it’s going to be a rough road ahead unless they get it together.
