When Jameis Winston was first injured, it looked as though the New Orleans Saints would be just fine. They were able to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Trevor Siemian under center. But then, the bottom fell out.

New Orleans has now lost four in a row with each game getting progressively worse than the one prior. Their most recent loss was definitely their worst as the Buffalo Bills dispatched them 31-6. They now have a frustrated Cowboys team coming to New Orleans on Thursday for a Prime Time showdown, which doesn’t seem to be ideal for them.

While they need to get things figured out on the field, they also need to decide what the heck they’re doing with Taysom Hill. Once again, they gave him a comically large contract that could balloon up even more if he becomes a starting quarterback. However, they don’t ever want to use him as a quarterback even with Siemian’s struggles.

It makes little sense that Sean Payton keeps touting him as a future starter and they keep moving him along slowly, even though he’s already 31-years-old. If he’s ever going to be the guy, now would be the time to find out. Instead, they just want to give him another weird contract while using him as a tight end/fullback/special teams ace. And for that role, he’s grossly overpaid.
