2021 NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Cowboys continue to slide, Packers bounce back
By Randy Gurzi
It just keeps getting more and more obvious that the Houston Texans’ current structure isn’t working. They had a shocking win last week over the Tennessee Titans but then this weekend, they reminded us all what a mess they are.
Tyrod Taylor and the offense managed just 14 points against the New York Jets — and while Taylor had 158 yards passing and two touchdowns, he was sacked five times which took 58 of those passing yards off the team total. He also had an interception on the day which hurt their struggling offense.
As for the ground game, there really wasn’t one. David Johnson was able to get just 39 yards on 10 carries and had it not been for the 30 yard rush from Taylor, it would have looked much worse overall for them.
Defensively, Houston played well against the pass, holding Zach Wilson to 145 yards on 14-of-24 passing. But they struggled with the running game, surrendering 157 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, which proved to be the difference.
Now at 2-9, Houston is in play for the second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft but they need to figure out more than just who to pick in Round 1. They have to decide if David Culley is the right coach and most importantly, they have to end the Deshaun Watson saga which has been looming over their heads all season.
