2021 NFL Bold Prediction No. 9: Justin Herbert leads league in TD passes
He might not be the No. 1 guy right now, but Justin Herbert is a player who can get hot in a hurry. After 11 games, he has 3,230 yards passing which has him ranked fourth in the NFL behind some impressive names — including Derek Carr, Tom Brady, and Matthew Stafford. He’s also only slightly ahead of another one of his division rivals, Patrick Mahomes, who has 3,200 yards. Carr currently sits at No. 1 with 3,403 as he’s been tearing up the league with the deep ball.
He’s currently fifth in passing yards with Josh Allen (25), Patrick Mahomes (25), Matt Stafford (27), and Tom Brady (30) ahead of him right now. However, we have seen one thing that’s been common with Herbert, he seems to do his best work in the fourth quarter.
That might only be true in games right now but his five game-winning drives this season alone have been impressive. Now, he has a chance for another late come-from-behind win although this time it will be when it comes to yardage and touchdown passes.
With several suspect defenses — including Cincinnati, the Giants, and the Texans — on the schedule, look for Herbert to have a couple of 400-yard passing games as well as a few outings with at least four touchdowns. In the end, it will be enough to stand above the crowd as the NFL leader in each category.
