NFL Bold Prediction No. 15: Patrick Mahomes throws just one more pick

There was a lot of talk about how poor Patrick Mahomes was playing early in this season, even though he really wasn’t. Sure, he and the Kansas City Chiefs were off to a 2-3 start, and by Week 8 he had 10 interceptions which was insane for him. But that was the problem, we were comparing Mahomes to the crazy standard he set for himself.

10 interceptions in eight games isn’t ideal but it’s also not unheard of. However, when you’re talking about a player who had 11 in the past two seasons combined, you start to ask what’s wrong when he looks human.

However, Mahomes got back on track and outside of a blip against Dallas where he had no touchdowns and one pick, he has been back to his old self — including a 406-yard performance against the Raiders which included five touchdown passes.

On the season, Mahomes now has 3,200 yards with 25 touchdowns against the 11 picks, but by season’s end, don’t expect him to have many more turnovers. With this past week off, Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid should have had time to tighten a few things up and in the final five games, Mahomes will throw only one more pick which will surely upset those who really wanted to see him start to play like a regular quarterback.
