The New Orleans Saints desperately need a Christmas miracle to get back on track. Could Taysom Hill be the solution they’ve been hunting for?

The New Orleans Saints were one of the most promising teams when the season started. Since then, things have really gone downhill. Throughout this season, the team has dealt with injuries upon injuries to impact players. It’s truly been an exhausting time to a fan of the Saints.

Upon losing Jameis Winston, the team didn’t seem like it was in bad shape. However, things really started to crumble and the team has dealt with some disappointing losses. They were beaten badly on Thanksgiving by the Buffalo Bills and with another Thursday matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, things aren’t looking up for the team.

Nevertheless, there’s no reason to give up hope just yet. The Saints could end up pulling out a win as Dallas hasn’t been playing the best either. Even so, the team does have a lot of adjusting and things to change. In addition to having less prep time than usual, another Thursday night game is the perfect time to see if the Saints are legit.

Particularly, it’s going to be interesting to see if Taysom Hill was worth the huge price tag the Saints paid for him and if he could end up being the solution the team has been waiting for. If Hill isn’t, then who will help ensure a W against the Cowboys?

Could Taysom Hill be the change the New Orleans Saints need?

Oddly enough, I’m sure none of us thought Taysom Hill would be leading the Saints so late into the season. However, fate has seemed to work in mysterious ways for Hill. While it seemed like all hope was lost, the Saints are willing to give him a chance. With the massive contract, the Saints gave Hill, it’s time to see if he can put the money where his mouth is.

In particular, it’s going to be interesting to see how Taysom Hill fares against the Dallas Cowboys. The team started off promising but has begun to fizzle out. However, the Cowboys’ defense is no joke especially Trevon Diggs. Diggs has been the interception king and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he added Hill’s name to his list.

Despite Dallas’ stellar defense, the Saints’ offense isn’t anything to sneeze at, either. When Taysom Hill actually makes plays and doesn’t rely so much on tricks, he gets the job done. While it wasn’t much, Hill did complete all of his passes against the Titans and Falcons. He was only 4 of 4 but it’s something. Honestly, it’s going to come down to Hill being able to handle the pressure of leading the team and if he’s willing to make those plays.

Unlike Brees or Winston, Hill doesn’t have nearly as much experience and it’s clear he’s not as comfortable, thinking on his feet. Being named the starter against Dallas is really going to be the true test for him. If Hill can help the Saints get the win over the Cowboys, it’s going to be a huge confidence boost for both himself and the team.

A lot of pressure is on Hill to have a good game, but the Saints are also looking to get back some of their biggest weapons including Alvin Kamara. While Kamara is questionable, there is still a chance he’ll be able to play and with him on the field, the team will hopefully breathe a collective sigh of relief. If not, then having Mark Ingram back on the field is a major help.

At this point, it’s going to be an uphill battle for the Saints even with the struggles Dallas has been having. The team is really going to have to band together to get a win.

If the Saints pull off a win against Dallas, no doubt it’ll help alleviate a lot of worries about the team’s status. If the game ends in a loss, then it’s obvious we’ll be crossing our fingers for a better season in 2022.
