NFL: Ranking Quarterbacks who were one-hit wonders: 20. Terrelle Pryor

Terrelle Pryor is one of the rare players that had two careers in the NFL. He was taken by the Oakland Raiders in the expansion draft to be a project at quarterback. He had a few good games after he was given an actual stretch to start in 2013, but his flaws were just too much.

His mistakes were always the downfall of his abilities. He was one of the most talented players in the league, which is what most people want at the quarterback position, but his decision-making left much to be desired. He is the rare one-hit-wonder where his hit didn’t even last an entire season.

It really comes down to one game. On October 6th, 2013, Pryor was taking on the San Diego Chargers, a team that had been a playoff team for most of the previous decade. He threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He led the Raiders to a major victory that put them back into the conversation as a contender, even though it was early in the season. The Raiders might be onto something with Pryor.

The rest of the season went badly. Pryor only won one more game, and it was an 88-yard passing performance against the Steelers. It was clear he was a gadget player, and that’s how it worked out for his career. He eventually moved to wide receiver with the Browns, he has a 1,000-yard receiving season, and he finished his career with one of the more interesting runs of this era.
