2021 NFL Power Rankings Week 14: Cowboys back on track, Ravens slip up
By Randy Gurzi
6-6 is not where the Cleveland Browns thought they would be following their breakout campaign in 2020. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of injuries and a ton of drama which has contributed to their disappointing campaign.
They now have a week off to prepare for the Baltimore Ravens, who just so happen to be the last team they played. In that one, the offense wasted a stellar performance from the defense which included four interceptions of Lamar Jackson.
Cleveland will need to make sure their offense is ready to go when they meet again because there’s no way they can expect the defense to do what they did in Week 12 all over again. That’s not a knock on their defense, just the fact that Jackson is hard to slow down once, let alone twice in a season.
Sure, it was against the New York Jets but Gardner Minshew put up some impressive numbers in his first-ever start with the Philadelphia Eagles. With Jalen Hurts out, Minshew stepped in and completed 20-of-25 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Miles Sanders added 120 yards on 24 carries and Kenneth Gainwell put up 54 yards and a touchdown as well on the ground.
Philly moved to 6-7 on the season, keeping their hopes alive this year. The question now will be whether or not the play of Minshew starts a quarterback controversy in Philly. If it did, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all, because it seems as if there’s always a quarterback controversy in Philly.
