Germain Ifedi, Offensive Line

The offensive line has been a huge headache for Pace and the Chicago Bears. It seems that they’re been looking for a good offensive line almost as long as they’ve hunted for a franchise quarterback. Yes, they’ve had good linemen from time to time, but building a consistently good unit has been a difficult task.

Germain Ifedi had a good season in 2021. The Bears signed him to be a right guard. However, with injuries and COVID hitting the line hard the Bears had to move him over to right tackle. He played tackle when he was with the Seattle Seahawks but he struggled. When he moved over last season, he actually did a good job.

Ifedi was a big part of the improved line play late in the season. He did a good job of handling pass rushers and opening holes for David Montgomery.

Despite the good play, the Bears wanted to see if he could repeat his performance. They re-signed him for just one year.

This season has been a difficult one for Ifedi. This time, he’s the one dealing with injuries and COVID. He’s only played in five games.

Ifedi again is set to hit free agency. With the Bears having to prioritize the offensive line, it looks like Ifedi won’t return. The team has Larry Borom in his place at the moment and he’s done a good job.

It looks like Ifedi played his last game in a Chicago Bears uniform.
