Former Denver Broncos WR and Super Bowl 50 Champion Demaryius Thomas passed away at the age of 33.
The Mile High City is weeping over the loss of a great as former Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has died at the age of 33. The cause of the death is unknown.
Selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech, Thomas became a star player with the Broncos, earning five straight Pro Bowl honors with the team. Thomas played in two Super Bowls with Denver, a loss to Seattle where he scored a touchdown, and Super Bowl 50 where he won his only ring.
Thomas had a memorable highlight in the 2011 NFL Playoffs against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he took a Tim Tebow pass to the house to eliminate the then-defending AFC Champions in one of the most remarkable plays in NFL Playoffs History.
Demaryius Thomas has died at 33, and prayers go out to the Denver Broncos community.
The news of Thomas’ passing was first reported by Benjamin Allbright of 850 KOA in Denver.
After leaving Denver in 2018, Thomas played for the Texans, Patriots, and Jets, but most of his production came as a member of the Broncos. Thomas finished his career with over 700 catches for over 9,700 yards and 63 touchdowns.
Thomas retired as a member of the Denver Broncos and will go down in franchise history as one of the best and most beloved players in team history. Perhaps this tragic loss will prompt the team to retire his jersey number 88.
It’s incredibly difficult to appropriately quantify what Thomas meant to the Broncos as a franchise, for the fan base, and the community of Denver. This is a shocking loss and a wound that won’t heal anytime soon.
Rest in peace, Demaryius Thomas, and prayers go out to the Denver Broncos Organization for ht loss of #88.
