Green Bay Packers defensive free agents that won’t be back in 2022

No. 5: DE Tyler Lancaster

If the Green Bay Packers have one weakness on their defense, it’s their defensive line. Nose tackle Kenny Clark is an absolute godsend. Without him, the Packers defensive line is nothing more than a stubborn turnstile for opposing running backs.

When your nose tackle leads the defensive line in pressure, sacks, stuffs, or any other category you can name, you know your defensive line is a joke.

Tyler Lancaster is a player for the Pack who gives the opposing offensive line a break from having to deal with a Rashan Gary or Za’Darius Smith every snap.

During a push for the Super Bowl, in what has been labeled “The Last Dance” for the Green Bay Packers, Tyler Lancaster is providing depth on their defensive front which provides needed value as of late due to injuries piling up. However, the production has just never been there for him, giving the team few options.

In over 200 snaps at defensive end, Lancaster has just two QB pressures and 13 total tackles with a defense PFF grade of 51.1, down from an already low 64.8 in 2020.

In order to make room for some other players deserving of a contract extension, the Green Bay Packers are going to have to move on from the former Northwestern Wildcat.
