Houston Texans 2022 mock draft: Third round picks

5. Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M

With their first of two third-round picks, the Houston Texans snag yet another offensive weapon and a local prospect in Texas A&M running back Isaiah Spiller.

Spiller, who will be one of the youngest players drafted in 2022, has been a model of consistency if nothing else for the Aggies.

He’s averaged 5.5 yards per carry and about 25 receptions per season in his three years with the program, and he’s got exceptional toughness and breakaway speed as a runner. Some consider him to be a top-50 player in this class, so perhaps getting him here is a stretch but again — the simulator is presenting the opportunity.

Houston’s lack of clarity in the backfield must be addressed.

6. Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame

The Texans could go with an edge as early as their number one pick in this class. To get a player like Foskey here at pick 75, a selection the Texans acquired from the Saints?

That’s an outstanding value.

Foskey has nine sacks and a whopping five forced fumbles this season, proving he is a game-changer off the edge.

With six picks in the top 75 of this mock draft scenario, the Texans come away with some actual pieces to be excited about and build around for the future.
