FanDuel DFS NFL Week 15 picks and lineup advice: Running Back

The running back position is also incredibly sparse this week, and it does not help that I am not a fan of a lot of the most expensive running backs. While I do like paying up for receiver and saving at running back this week, I will mention Joe Mixon ($8300) as my favorite expensive running back option.

Before going scoreless last week, Mixon had nine touchdowns in the previous five weeks. With his ability to find the end zone and involvement in the passing and rushing game, he is a very safe play this week despite his tough matchup against the Broncos.

Cordarrelle Patterson ($7000) is one of my favorite plays at the running back position this week against a 49ers team that has been strong against the run and weak against the pass. Since the Falcons should be playing from behind, look for Patterson to be a bit more involved in the passing game all while seeing his usual rushing workload.

Melvin Gordon III ($7000) and Javonte Williams ($7000) are both dealing with injuries, and if one were to miss this week, the other would become a fantastic play against an awful Bengals run defense. Regardless, I do think Gordon is still a solid play in tournaments since people will be quick to play the seemingly more talented rookie in Williams when in reality Gordon has been just as effective and has more touchdowns on the year.

Sony Michel ($6800) is also a great play, regardless of whether or not Darrell Henderson ($6800) is able to go or not. He has looked very good in the two games where he has had to lead the backfield and gets a fantastic matchup against a Seattle defense that has been quite vulnerable this year.

On the other side of the ball, Rashaad Penny ($6100) is coming off a career day in which he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Now he likely gets the whole backfield again, especially with Alex Collins being placed on the COVID list. Even though Penny draws a tough matchup with the Rams, volume alone should keep him fantasy relevant this week.

If you are looking for some cheap running back plays, look no further than D’Onta Foreman ($5800), who seems to be the starting running back for the Titans and gets a great matchup against a Steelers defense that has completely collapsed against the run in the past couple weeks.

Finally, David Johnson ($5500) should be the primary back in the Texans backfield against an awful Jaguars defense, and while this is not the best offense to be a part of, his volume at only $5500 makes him one of the safer running back plays of the week.
