The NFL loves to “hype up” teams before the season starts as the hype train begins sometimes as early as the first day of free agency. However, that doesn’t always work out as planned.

“Dream team. From Nnamdi to Cromartie, to Jason (Babin) to myself. I know they are going to do some more things. . . . It’s just beautiful to see where we’re trying to go.”

Those famous words by Vince Young are a warning to all NFL teams when they want to hype themselves prior to playing a game that counts. Never call yourself a dream team. The media puts enough hype on these teams. For a player to do it to his own team is outwardly insane.

This is obviously one of the most famous failures in the history of the NFL, but it’s hardly the first and it’s definitely not the last. There have been massive failures every single year in the NFL. Just look at this year. The Los Angeles Rams are on the cusp of catastrophe. The Cleveland Browns are still a mess. Josh Allen isn’t exactly building confidence for Buffalo Bills fans. Heck, even Patrick Mahomes leaves a lot to be desired this season.

However, they all might make the playoffs this season. There are some epic failures throughout the years. These “dream teams” turned out to be nightmares, and the wheels came off quickly more times than not. So, which ones did it best…. err I mean worst?
