Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) at New York Jets (3-11)

Sunday, December 26, 1PM ET

Despite all of the nonsense, there was one positive to come from this past week for the Jacksonville Jaguars — they’re currently in position to own the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. That’s after picking first overall last season. Are they going to jeopardize losing that?

I don’t think so. Although it’s not like losing to the New York Jets is a foregone conclusion. While the Jets have been competitive at times this season, they’re far from reliable on Sundays — as shown by their miserable record. And yet, they’re a decent team while compared to the train wreck that is the Jaguars.

Even with Urban Meyer now out of the picture, the Jaguars aren’t suddenly going to turn things around. We saw evidence of that in Week 15 when they couldn’t do too much against the Texans. Now it seems likely they’ll suffer another demoralizing defeat against the Jets as they just wait for this 2021 season to end.

Trevor Lawrence has a solid game, but a turnover or two is the difference as the quality New York defense capitalizes. Gang Green gets the win, and the Jaguars get one step closer to making the first overall pick for two consecutive seasons.

Prediction: Jets win 17-12 | Spread: Jets (-2)
