Detroit Lions (2-12-1) at Seattle Seahawks (5-10)

Sunday, January 2, 4:25PM ET

This feels weird, but I’m actually going to pick the Detroit Lions to take care of business in the Emerald City. They’ve only done it two other times this season, but we’ve seen plenty of quality football from them lately — who’s to say they can’t put together a late-season surprise?

It’s not like the Seattle Seahawks have been good down the stretch. In this stretch, they’re one of the most unwatchable teams in the NFL right now. The offense is flailing, the defense isn’t much better, and it’s clear something needs to change this offseason. For now, though, let’s focus on the upcoming game.

Expect plenty of lackluster offensive drives from Seattle, with maybe a big play or two from Rashad Penny, Tyler Lockett, or D.K. Metcalf. Russell Wilson might have a decent game against a weak Detroit secondary. But don’t expect a ton of scoring or for the offense to be running at full speed for all 60 minutes.

The Lions start slow, but come on strong in the second half and overwhelm the Seahawks. Another big game from Amon-Ra St. Brown helps Detroit put together a late-game comeback that results in only their third win of the year.

Prediction: Lions win 26-23 | Spread: Seahawks (-6.5)
