2021 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 17
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-13) at New England Patriots (9-6)
Sunday, January 2, 1PM ET
Coming off a disappointing divisional loss, the New England Patriots need to get back on track in a hurry with only two weeks to go before the playoffs. Pulling a matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars will certainly help them right the ship in Week 17.
It’s not like the Jaguars have much motivation to get the win at this point, outside of pride. They’re already in position to get the top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, although it’s clear they’re trying to get a better look at Trevor Lawrence with Urban Meyer out of the picture. Either way, I don’t see Jacksonville putting up too much of a fight.
Why? Well for starters, the Patriots have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Considering how much the Jaguars have struggled to move the ball this season, I don’t see them suddenly having success against New England. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lawrence had one of the worst games of his young career in this one.
Mac Jones needs a big game to regain some confidence with the postseason just around the corner. The Patriots also just need the win from a seeding standpoint. They should have little trouble getting it against Jacksonville.
Prediction: Patriots win 28-9 | Spread: Patriots (-15)
