David Montgomery should have another big game

Last week, running back David Montgomery had a big game. He might not have gotten the game-winning catch or run for 100 yards, but he was a big part of the offense. He had 106 total yards from scrimmage (45 rushing and 61 receiving) and a touchdown. He accounted for 33 percent of the Bears’ total yards for the game.

We should expect more of the same this week. The Giants do not do a good job of stopping their opponents’ running game. They rank 26th in total rushing yards allowed and 20th in average yards per run. Against the pass,

The weather condition for Sunday will have a high of 19 degrees and a low of 7. That means the ground will be hard. Last week, it was snowing in Seattle. It is difficult for defenders to bring Montgomery down on a good day. The job is even more difficult in the cold.

Montgomery was on his way to a big season early this season before he suffered a sprained knee and missed four games. He ranked fourth in rushing when he went down. He has 713 yards after he eclipsed the 1,000 rushing yard mark last season. Still, he will have over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage for the third straight season.

If the Bears look for Montgomery against the Giants he’ll have another big game. Look for them to go to him early and often.
