The Dallas Cowboys make a surprise pick in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft as they add another huge offensive weapon to their arsenal

With the calendar year now turning, it means we are rapidly approaching the end of the NFL season. We are also flying through the NCAA Bowl Games, which gives us another glimpse at some of the players who we will be discussing in our latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

This week, there are a couple of surprises but none larger than the decision by the Dallas Cowboys to add an offensive weapon at a position that could be more of a need than we realize at first.

As is usually the case, the order for this mock is determined by the latest NFL Spin Zone Power Rankings, which have the Jacksonville Jaguars kicking things off at pick No. 1, so let’s dive right in.

Jaguars kick things off with a blindside protector in our latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft

OT. Evan Neal. 52. Alabama. 1. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama

They moved on from Urban Meyer and are apparently casting a wide net as the Jacksonville Jaguars want to interview several coordinators including Byron Leftwich of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kellen Moore of the Dallas Cowboys.

Leftwich is an interesting name since he was a starting quarterback there but it’s his work as an offensive coordinator in Tampa that makes him stand out as an excellent candidate.

Whoever ends up with the job will have a decision to make with the No. 1 pick and in this mock, they go with Evan Neal. A massive 6-foot-7, 345-pounder, Neal would make life much easier on Trevor Lawrence as he would lock down the left tackle spot for the next decade or longer.

Scouting Report. 2. 50. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Michigan. Aidan Hutchinson. player

2. Detroit Lions: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan

Assuming Dan Campbell is back, this feels like a pick he would make. Kayvon Thibodeaux is the more exciting prospect but Aidan Hutchinson fits the Campbell mold.

Having said that, it’s not as if they would be getting an inferior player. Hutchinson is a complete prospect who not only generates heat as a pass rusher but he also holds up against the run as well as any defensive end prospect in this class.
