2. Dalton Schultz, Tight End

One name that flies under the radar a lot with the Dallas Cowboys is Dalton Schultz. The fourth-year tight end is on the same offense with superstar players such as Amari Cooper, Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb which leads to him being overlooked.

That doesn’t bother him at all as Schultz just goes out and does his job at a high level. In 2021, he’s already recorded career highs in receptions (75), yards (787), and touchdowns (6). And that’s all with one game left to go.

Schultz has proven to be quite the security blanket for Prescott, but he’s also set for free agency in 2022. The Cowboys would surely love to bring him back but there’s no guarantee they can make it work.

They’re already paying several players top dollar which has them projected at $13 million above the salary cap according to OverTheCap.com. In addition to that, they have Blake Jarwin under contract for more than $6 million next season — which would mean they would likely have to release him — and make some other moves — in order to re-sign Schultz.

If they cannot get that done, Kellen Moore could look to bring the veteran tight end with him should he find himself a new home. No matter where that might be, having a sure-handed tight end that stands 6-foot-5 and 244-pounds is never a bad thing.
