Jim Harbaugh landing spot No. 2: Denver Broncos

Year after year, it feels as though the Denver Broncos will contend. Then, year after year, they fall short.

That was the case once again in 2021 as they continued to prove they have a talented roster but something is missing. Of course, quarterback is the easy answer as Denver just hasn’t found their guy since Peyton Manning retired.

It wasn’t Trevor Siemian, it wasn’t Drew Lock, it wasn’t Case Keenum, and it isn’t Teddy Bridgewater. While they should go back to the drawing board there, they also can’t just assume updating their play-caller will fix everything. What they should do is look at every possible way they can improve — which would include moving on from Vic Fangio.

Sure, John Elway seems to like him but Fangio has yet to lead Denver to a winning record. Some of that needs to be blamed on the roster but the coach also has to take ownership of his .396 winning percentage.

On the other hand, Harbaugh has an insanely high winning percentage, so if there’s any chance Elway can replace Fangio with the eccentric coach from Michigan, he should at a very minimum explore that option. Adding him would lead to much more success, and if they did find a new quarterback, they would be giving that gun-slinger a head coach with Super Bowl experience to work with.
