Recent rumors suggest that the Carolina Panthers could be willing to listen to trade offers for Christian McCaffrey, but which teams could be interested?

The past couple of seasons haven’t gone as planned for Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey.

In 2020, he signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension with Carolina but has struggled to stay on the field since then. He’s appeared in just 10 games the past two seasons and has just 667 yards rushing and 492 yards since signing the massive deal.

Perhaps the Panthers are now feeling some buyer’s remorse after extending a running back, something many teams avoid. Reportedly, there are now rumors, according to The Athletic, that McCaffrey could be on the move as the Panthers are open to the idea of trading him.

Here we look at three teams that could decide to pull the trigger on the veteran running back.

Christian McCaffrey trading partner No. 3: Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs offense is back on track this season after a slow start but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look to improve their roster. While they could add some talent in the draft, there’s also a place for McCaffrey in their offense.

A dual-threat who can hurt teams in the passing game just as much as in the running game, McCaffrey would add another element to an already dangerous offense.

Yes, it’s true the Chiefs already have Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but he has yet to really prove he’s a transcendent star. In 2021, he’s averaging just over 50 yards per game on the ground and 12.9 through the air.

McCaffrey would be risky due to the injury concerns but the fact that they have another capable back could help them feel confident in taking the gamble.
