Christian McCaffrey trading partner No. 2: New York Jets

The New York Jets have improved as the 2021 season went on, even if it’s not apparent by their record. They enter Week 18 with a mark of 4-12 but they did nearly beat the defending Super Bowl Champions. In fact, they probably should have won their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – but they wound up losing it in the final minutes.

Zach Wilson has shown flashes as a quarterback and while he has a lot of growing to do, it appears he belongs in the NFL. What would help him take his next step, however, is a running back who he can lean on when things get tough.

Of course, the Jets do have Michael Carter who has been good this season. He was a fourth-round pick from North Carolina and has exceeded expectations with over 600 yards rushing and an average of 4.5 yards per attempt. He also has 325 yards through the air on 36 receptions.

As good as that is, there’s no denying that McCaffrey, when healthy, would be an upgrade. Then again, a healthy McCaffrey is arguably better than 90 percent of the running backs in the NFL.

Adding him to this offense would help the offense tremendously, which is always a good thing for a young quarterback.
