2022 NFL Mock Draft: Browns replace Baker Mayfield, Bucs find another wideout

5. New York Giants: George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue
One pick after the New York Jets is the New York Giants, who decide to grab George Karlaftis in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. Karlaftis is a large man at 6-foot-4 and 275-pounds. He’s built to play on the edge and the Giants need players who can produce in such a role.
Karlaftis finished his career with the Boilermakers with 14 sacks and 29 tackles for a loss in a three-year span but he seems like someone who is still growing and will have his best days ahead of him.
New York has some talented defenders and adding a player who can bring the heat as a pass rusher — and can hold up against the run — could be what gets them back on track.
6. Carolina Panthers: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
There was a shot Evan Neal would go first to the Jacksonville Jaguars but they went with Aidan Hutchinson. That led to Neal lasting until pick No. 6 and the Carolina Panthers were more than happy to give him a soft place to land.
Neal is a 6-foot-7, 345-pound left tackle who can handle both the speed and power rush. Carolina needs a capable blindside protector and they get that, and more, with the selection of Neal.
