The Miami Dolphins have fired head coach Brian Flores after three seasons with the team. Which teams should be considered the top landing spots for him now?
The Miami Dolphins have made the shocking decision to move on from head coach Brian Flores after three seasons. Although Flores’ record as head coach is only 24-25, the Dolphins were 10-6 and 9-8 in the last two seasons, respectively. Not many coaches are fired after consecutive winning seasons in the NFL. NFL Black Monday is in full force.
Apparently, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross didn’t have the best working relationship with Flores, or he didn’t see a great working relationship between Flores and his quarterbacks or general manager Chris Grier.
NFL Black Monday 2022 in full force: Brian Flores is looking for a new job
Remember, the Dolphins won 10 games in 2020 despite the fact they had a very short leash on Tua Tagovailoa. Now, Flores is going to likely be a coveted coach on the open market. Which teams will try to snatch him up?
Let’s take a look at the top three…
1. Minnesota Vikings (as HC)
The Minnesota Vikings are one of just a couple of teams that gutted their brain trust with both general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer now on the hunt for new jobs.
Because of the way Flores was able to quickly get the Dolphins back into playoff relevance, considering how much of a mess that roster was just three years ago, he could be a top option for the recently vacated Minnesota Vikings head coaching position.
The Vikings have a veteran-laden offense and a coach like Flores could come in and build up the defense and the culture of the organization quickly.
It remains to be seen what the new Vikings management will do with Kirk Cousins but Flores could probably get this team back into the playoffs as soon as 2022.
